1111 project: Drifter Project by TAO Ya-Lun

A young person from Ukraine comes to Taiwan—
a Taiwanese artist travels to Ukraine.

Through an exchange of bodies,
one person carries the equipment, crosses borders,
enters, returns home, and reunites,
in place of another.

This is a grave confrontation,
yet one that retains a heart-wrenching humor beneath an absurd surface—
a smile formed while the nose wrinkles;
for most of the time, laughter seems able to serve as a kind of levee.

We are deeply honored to invite artist TAO Ya-Lun,
to present this profoundly meaningful work in the exhibition space of the 1111 project.
Before the work, what unfolds within the camera frame appears unrelated to us;
yet before the world, no one is ever a bystander.

Drifter Project is an action, a video, an interactive installation,
a project, an event, a form of documentation…
and in truth, everything has already been laid bare.
What remains must be experienced through one’s own body.

One room, one work, one encounter.
What once seemed like a distant boundary—
now is precisely the time to cross.
