Yang Chung-Ming

YANG Chung-Ming (b. 1974) is a Taiwanese contemporary artist and one of the leading figures in Taiwanese printmaking. Grounded in printmaking, his interdisciplinary practice encompasses painting, handmade paper, plant fibres, found objects and installation, extending the material and conceptual possibilities of paper and print.

YANG received his BFA from the National Taichung University of Education in 1998 and his MFA from Tainan National University of the Arts in 2001. In 2004, he founded 324 Print Studio as a creative and pedagogical platform dedicated to the development and promotion of printmaking in Taiwan.

At the heart of YANG’s practice is a profound concern for history, cultural forms at risk of disappearance, and shared human experiences of memory, loss, vulnerability and renewal. Through his sustained exploration of paper, print and material processes, he examines how traces of time and human experience may be preserved, transformed and reimagined. His practice moves between traditional printmaking and contemporary forms of expression, often allowing paper, fibres and found materials to become integral elements of the work rather than simply surfaces or supports for images.

YANG’s work has been exhibited extensively in Taiwan and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions at prominent galleries and art spaces in Taipei, as well as presentations across Europe and Japan. He is among the few contemporary artists represented in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
